Sands Of Mali has been prepared to replicate last year’s success in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot second month after being absent because the Royal assembly there.
Trainer Richard Fahey reported the four-year-old to get recovered from the distress he suffered when well beaten in June in the King’s Stand Stakes.
Even the Musley Bank handler is convinced his top-class sprinter may put that setback behind him this autumn.
“He came back from Ascot a bit sore, but he is grand back and now full in training,” said Fahey.
“The race in Ascot will be his target. I’m sure he will return.”
Space Traveller, winner of the Jersey Stakes, is to go on Saturday.
Connections are keen to head for the Group Two as the race is sponsored by Space Traveller’s proprietor Steve Parkin under his Clipper Logistics banner.
“We are pleased with him. He’s in the Boomerang and whether the ground is not soft he will probably go there.
“Steve maintains the race,” said Fahey.
