With winner Georges St-Pierre not returning for the division per TSN, this will be for the 185-pound name.
Whittaker (19-4) headsi into his first title defence off an eight battle win streak, including a unanimous decision win over Yoel Romero at UFC 213 where he captured the interim middleweight title. The 26-year-old has finished two of his three opponents. Rockhold (16-3) is coming from a stoppage victory over David Branch in UFC Fight Night 116. The former UFC and Strikeforce winner has won half of the last seven fights. .
Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou place for UFC 220
MMAJunkie broke the information that heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will confront Francis Ngannou at UFC 220 on Jan. 20 at TD Garden at Boston.
Miocic (17-2) is now riding a five-fight win streak such as a first-round TKO victory over Junior Dos Santos at UFC 211 back in May. The 35-year-old has won eight of his last nine fights. Ngannou (11-1) has stayed undefeated in the UFC and conquered Alistair Overeem final weekend in UFC 218 by first-round knockout. The 31-year-old has not lost a fight.
